Presentation: Tweet"A Culture of Failure"
The field of Web Operations is still very young, and DevOps even younger. While we're still trying to make sense of the complexity of our systems and their failure modes, other areas and industries have done an incredible amount of pioneering work to move ideas of risk and human error into new directions.
Adopting a culture of failure means moving past the idea that a single human is to blame for a specific problem or an entire site outage. It's about looking at every failure as an opportunity, and opportunity to increase the safety of our systems and our teams.
Because as much as we'd like, failure is never off the table. There is no such thing as a 100% safety.
In this talk we will look at how this new view of safety, risk and human error is handled in other industries, and how it can be applied to web operations and DevOps.
